G-string Santa arrested for drunk driving
He was spotted outside the famous Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Sunday, and was promptly arrested.
In addition to his Santa hat and the G-string (which was purple), the man was also wearing a wig, a red lace camisole and black leg warmers.
The man was taken to jail after tests showed his blood-alcohol level over the legal limit, and was later released on $5,000 bail.
In a helpful bit of clarification from the police department, Deputy Chief Ken Garner said: 'We are pretty sure this is not the Santa Claus.'

The Crate Application and Research Project
As well as the afore-mentioned emminent crates, many crates found uses in other walks of life and were a huge part of every person's day to day routine. These pages were written to demonstrate the fantastic versatility of the humble crate, and to show how in these modern times, the crate is as important as it ever was.

Bizarre Bras
There's the heated bra that uses microwaveable inserts to keep the girls warm and there's the chopsticks bra with a hidden compartment for your collapsible chopsticks (never know when they might come in handy!) and there's even a "Birth Rate Decline Bra" that reminds you and your honey to get busy makin' babies.
I guess my favorite is the shopping bag bra. I mean, you know know when you might need to whip that bra off and convert it into a shopping bag. Transformers ain't got nothin' on this guy.

Momias de Guanajuato [MUMMIES!!!]
In the Mexican town of Guanajuato during the years 1896 and 1958 a taxation was imposed on burials, of 20 pesos annually, or 170 pesos for permanent burial. Many families could not afford this fee, thus large numbers of corpses were exhumed, presumably destined for an ossuary. But the qualities of the arid air perhaps interacting with soil conditions yielded a peculiar phenomenon, the desiccation instead of decomposition of the bodies.
After 1958 bodies were no longer exhumed, and some of those were placed on public display as a memento mori cum tourist trap, atop Trozado Hill. One can now pay respects by purchasing a horribly tacky souvenir.

Pope John Paul II - Where is he now?
A composite image shows, at right a bonfire which locals believe resembles the silhouette of late Pope John Paul II making a blessing, in a picture taken by amateur photographer Grzegorz Lukasik, atop Matyska mountain in southern Poland, on April 2, 2007, during a vigil marking the second anniversary of the Polish pope's death. Data on Lukasik's digital camera says the picture was taken at 21.37:30, exactly the hour when the pope died. Picture at left shows Pope John Paul II waving to faithfuls as he leaves the Vatican, in this Aug. 8, 2001 file photo. (AP Photo/Grzegorz Lukasik/Plinio Lepri) |

Moist Towelette Collecting
Yes, this is an actual hobby that someone has. From the website's neat organization, it looks like there's more to the art and science of moist towelette collecting than you could shake a stick at. Or something. From the website:
Many individuals have asked me in past years, "Why moist towelette collecting?", "Why not stamp collecting, or numismatics?""To be different, perhaps?"
Well, I must admit that at first that was part of the appeal, but I have since become aware of the strong movement of Moist Towelette enthusiasts, and accepted that I am not alone in my fascination / hobby.
"For the money?"
It would be a lie to say that the future worth of a Moist Towelette compared to its present cost was not extremely inviting. Though the investment is obviously worthwhile, I don't believe this to be my major reason for collecting.
I must say my true motivation are the towels themselves. Each Moist Towelette is like a work of art. Though working in defined parameters, the designers manage to make each towelette applicable to their customer. A Moist Towelette collection can show restaurants, casinos (and a surprising variety of other locations) from across a continent (or nay, the entire world) in a single, small space.
Despite whatever differences we have as humans, we can all satisfy the natural urge to clean ourselves with lemon-scented, moist-filled napkins.
VISIT THE MOIST TOWELETTE COLLECTING WEBSITE to see their photo gallery, "The Moist Towelette Awards," listen to their theme song, play the moist towelette game, study the anatomy of a towelette, answer the question, "Why moist towelettes?" and benefit from their list of moist towelette industry contacts.

Eat a Bug!
Some insects are edible. In fact, most insects are edible, but there are a few species that are especially palatable, nutritious, and easily obtainable. I will concentrate on these.P.S. This buggy stuff is not kosher. You know... just sayin.'
Many species of insects are lower in fat, higher in protein, and have a better feed to meat ratio than beef, lamb, pork, or chicken.
Insects are tasty. Really! Even if you are too squeamish to have them as a main dish, you can make insect flour and add it to bread and other dishes for an added protein boost.
Insects are easy to raise. There is no manure forking. No hay bale lifting. No veterinary bills. You can raise them in an apartment without getting complaints.

AWESOME WEBSITE: "Haunted Indiana"
I love stuff like this and this website is packed with the creepiest, spookiest, weirdest stuff that all takes place in the great Hoosier State. I have a soft spot for Indiana because that's where my family had a farm for well over 100 years. I loved that old place. So, in honor of Francesville, Indiana and all my favorite weirdos who come from there, here's HauntedIndiana.com!!!
I found this about dear old Francesville:
Francesville - "The Light" - near Moody Lane - the story is back in the horse and buggy days, two brothers were out for a ride. One brother fell off and the wheel decapitated him. The light is the lantern of the other brother looking for the head. The brother is with his lantern passing one row at a time in the corn. If you go when the corn is down, you will see a light come towards you. if the corn is up (the best time to go) you see the orange/red glow from the lantern at the end of a row. it will move through the row of corn and you can see the light above the corn. It's slowly moves to the end of the row and back to the start of the row. Then it will move up one more rows. You can watch the light come closer and closer one row at a time.
Francesville - Moody Lane - A man named Moody roams the countryside and if you go to Moody Lane and wait where the trees branches are suppose to hang over the road you will see a strange light come toward you. Also there is a graveyard near Moody Lane where a man and a woman were killed on opposite sides of the road. And at midnight you supposedly can see the woman crossing the road to see her man.

Rare Diseases
Quick! You are a doctor and your patient has developed antiphospholipid antibodies as well as the appearance of numerous blood clots and now the situation is catastrophic, with numerous organs developing blood clots over a matter of a few days. Your patient is going to die... unless you can figure out what's wrong and prescribe the proper remedy. What is this rare disorder called? You can find the answer at About.com's "Rare Diseases" Directory which lists many, many such peculiar problems and their main symptoms and possible remedies (if there are any). As a writer, I look upon this place as an excellent research resource. But, the weird factor makes this website fascinating for anyone to peruse. |
A Brief History of Disembodied Dog Heads
FROM THE "BEWARE OF THE BLOG" WEBSITE OF WFMU:
Did Soviet scientists actually keep a disembodied dog head alive back in the 1940s? Did those crazed Stalinist Frankensteins then follow up that stunt by surgically creating a two headed dog in 1954? (That is, if "two-headed" is accurate - it's more like two heads, six legs and one-and-a-half torsi.)
Sorry, I just wanted to use the word "torsi."
And forget the Soviets - what about the monkey brain that a Cleveland surgeon transplanted from one primate to another? Are these all Internet hoaxes, or the only known evidence of a subject too taboo to be taken seriously - the research into head and brain transplants that's been going on for decades?
I wish I had definitive answers for you - I don't. But I'm more inclined towards believing that these experiments actually took place than when I first stumbled onto this weird medical sub-culture. After starting off as a skeptic, I've come to believe that organisms have indeed been revived. Heads have been lopped off. Brains have been perfused. Cephalic members transplanted. Glucose permeated in isolated canine craniums. The works.

Weird Web Stuff

I love to "collect" bits and pieces of weirdness I discover on the web (in case you can't tell by what's already here). So here's a few more additions for you to enjoy:
What is "breatharianism" and what happens to the people who practice it?Not a real good idea if you plan on staying alive. These folks really believe their physical bodies can sustain themselves solely on air and sunshine. No food. No water. Ever. Except, of course, for one of their major spokespersons who got photographed at a Wendy's hamburger joint, chowing down on a whole bunch of junk food.
Science Toys
Some of this stuff is passing strange, such as the robotic hand that plays six piano pieces. All by itself. Anyone remember that old sci-fi movie, "The Five Fingered Monster?"
Watermelon Fruit Carving
The guy is an artist. With watermelon.
Secret and Hidden Places at Google Earth
The link will take you to the YouTube page for this interesting little video of "secret" locations discovered using Google Earth. There will be even more links to even more "Google Earth Secret Locations" pages listed here.
Weird Facts
Did you know that Jimmy Carter was the first U.S. president to have been born in a hospital? Or that in every episode of Seinfeld there is a Superman somewhere. The first toilet ever seen on television was on "Leave It to Beaver". Reno, Nevada is west of Los Angeles, California. And there's lots more where that came from!
Byberry Abandoned Mental Hospital
Okay, this is just creepy. The creepiness continues with "Legend of the John Doe Morgue." Oh oh. I just found The Byberry Archives.
